Dear Festival Friends

First of all an apology for having inadvertently sent out an email about the short story competition 24 hours before the closing date. How I wished for an Undo button at that moment!

I thought I’d now intentionally send you a message to remind you that the Hailsham Festival begins this Saturday 8th September and will continue for a full fortnight until the 23rd. I do hope you’ll be able to come along and enjoy the wide range of exhibitions and events we have lined up.

This first weekend will include the Open Morning when the town centre will be buzzing with activity including music from the Memphis Flyers as well as stilt walkers, a uni-cyclist and buskers. The Wealden Writers will be in St Mary’s Church, there will be a children’s storytelling session in the library and during the evening you can choose between our annual Barn Dance in Arlington or the Grease singalong at the Pavilion (in association with Hailsham FM).

The highly acclaimed Art Trail will offer a wide range of exhibitions and workshops – some of these run for the whole festival while others are just at specific times – check in the programme or online for information.

Full details of all festival events are in the printed programme which should have arrived through your letterbox. If not, it is widely available in shops, cafes and other venues throughout the town and surrounding area. You can also download it here:
